Artificial Intelligence giant OpenAI has announced a string of recent partnerships spanning several industries – from The Washington Post to a rumoured major collaboration with Shopify.
One of these recent announcements includes a “first-of-its-kind” collaboration with leading carrier, Singapore Airlines. This wide ranging partnership will enhance the airline’s AI capabilities from fine tuning its virtual assistant to decision-making for the airline’s more complex tasks.
Initially, the partnership will focus on improving the airline’s website-based virtual assistant, developing more personalised support and refining the flight recommender feature.
Beyond customer experience, the partnership will also leverage next-gen multimodal AI capabilities that can relieve staff workload. By supporting the AI-powered virtual assistant’s ability to process information across various formats, it will facilitate rapid and informed decision-making by airline staff.
On the operations side, the problem-solving capabilities of OpenAI’s advanced models will be used to streamline flight crew scheduling, amongst other tasks, to promote the smooth running of complex operations.
Speaking on the announcement, Mr George Wang, Senior Vice President Information Technology, Singapore Airlines, said:
“This collaboration with OpenAI exemplifies Singapore Airlines’ commitment to digital innovation and leadership in the airline industry. By harnessing cutting-edge AI solutions, we will enhance operational efficiency and staff productivity, and elevate the end-to-end customer experience, helping the SIA Group retain its industry-leadership position.”
Echoing this, Mr Oliver Jay, Managing Director, International, OpenAI, added:
“Singapore Airlines has long been known for its leadership in innovation and service. We are excited to work with SIA and explore how advanced AI can enhance the travel experience, empower employees, and optimise complex operations.”
