Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) looks to accelerate its digital transformation with new Cirium partnership.

Korea-based IIAC runs the construction, management, and operation of Incheon International Airport, overseeing its development into one of the largest and busiest airports worldwide. The partnership with Cirium will give IIAC access to data covering over 35 million flights internationally.

As part of the collaboration, IIAC will leverage this data to develop two “state-of-the-art” solutions planning modules: Simulator and MasterPlanner.

The press release described each as follows:

  • Simulator: This solution will optimize allocation of facilities (such as check-in counters and security checkpoints) and workforce management by calculating passenger delays and queue times.
  • MasterPlanner: This solution will analyze annual facility requirements and cost-benefit ratios beneficial for new airport construction or expansion projects.

Speaking on the news, Lee Hak-jae, President of IIAC said:

“We hope this partnership will mark the beginning of our data-driven airport operations and development vision. By combining Cirium’s high-quality aviation data with Incheon Airport’s technical expertise, we aim to realize our goal of operating 10 overseas airports.”

IIAC has been equipping Incheon International Airport with cutting-edge IT innovations to establish an industry leading passenger experience. This has been done with a view to develop the airport into an Airport City that will act as “a centre for regional and national economic development, tourism, and industrial growth, ultimately re-emerging as a global mega-hub.”
