Hainan Airlines is shaking up the inflight entertainment landscape with Rokid AR Glasses. On 7th February, the airline surprised passengers with AR glasses on their seats, encouraging them to enjoy an immersive entertainment experience in flight for free.
For over a month, more than 20 Hainan Airline flights will give passengers the opportunity to use the Rokid AR Entertainment Kits on their journey. Providing pre-loaded 3D films on the 360-inch borderless screen at 1080P resolution, the airline is elevating the inflight entertainment aboard, creating a novel experience for its passengers.
Although this has been described as “more of a marketing boost […] than a large commercial deal,” it aligns Hainan Airlines with some of the advanced tech that has the potential to transform inflight entertainment.
