Brian Sumers, Founder and Editor of the Airline Observer joined to briefly discuss the evolving aviation landscape in Asia-Pacific and highlight some of the exciting developments that will be explored at Aviation Festival Asia.

Touching on the shifts occurring in the Indian market as a focal point, Sumers highlighted the attendance of both Campbell Wilson, CEO, Air India and Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo, who will be discussing the growth in their respective airlines. The two CEOs will be joining Sumers onstage alongside the CEOs of Riyadh Air and Thai Airways to debate the question: “What is the future of the APAC industry?” Sumers noted:

“One of the most exciting things I’m looking forward to in Singapore is a discussion of the India market. The big deal I think for this conference is you have not one but two CEOs from the country. You have Campbell Wilson of of Air India and then you have Pieter Elbers of Indigo.

There’s decades of of mismanagement at [Air India] and I’m really excited to question Campbell Wilson about what kind of changes he’s making and and how Air India can become a world class airline again. […] I’m also looking forward to speaking with Pieter Elbers, I think viewers know that he spent most of his career in Europe and now he’s at a big low cost carrier in India – how do they defend that market and and what are they doing? I’m very interested in the India angle for this.”

Sumers also discussed his interest in the region’s pandemic recovery, the evolution of the China market, and some of the LCC sessions with the CEOs of HK Express and Cebu Pacific, which Sumers described as “one of the best run airlines in the world,”

Across his interviews and panels, Sumers will be speaking with an array of influential industry leaders including the CEO HK Express, Cebu Pacific, Really Cool Airlines, FLYR, IndiGo, Riyadh Air, and Air India.
