At the start of the week, Star Alliance launched a new loyalty status match initiative powered by StatusMatch.com for frequent flyers in Scandinavia. The announcement came the day after SAS officially joined SkyTeam’s global airline alliance following its exit from Star Alliance in August.
The loyalty offer empowers passengers to a claim a “status match/challenge” across select member airlines in Scandinavia. Participating airlines include Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Ethiopian Airlines, Lufthansa Group airlines, South African Airways, TAP Air Portugal, THAI, Turkish Airlines, and United.
Speaking on the initiative, Renato Ramos, Vice President Strategy said:
“Global travellers today seek unmatched network, access to more lounges, and benefits at more airports. With its 25 world-class member airlines, only Star Alliance is best positioned to deliver these advantages to frequent flyers in the Nordic countries.”
To request the status match free of charge, passengers simply visit the Star Alliance website between September and 30th November.
At World Aviation Festival in October, Theo Panagiotoulias, Chief Executive Officer, Star Alliance is joining Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA, Marjan Rintel, Chief Executive Officer, KLM, and David Neeleman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Breeze Airways to unpack mitigating geopolitics, adopting gen AI, building more efficiency, and managing supply chain issues.
