In a competitive market, innovative revenue products can help an airline standout.
At Aviation Festival Americas, Taylor Putnam, Principal Commercial Product Manager, Alaska Airlines joined to discuss her insights on unleashing new revenue streams and shared some simple ways to empower women within this male dominated industry.
In the brief interview, Putnam highlighted the importance of understanding your audience when introducing innovative revenue products. Especially within younger generations, it is critical that airlines can offer products that appeal to a wide range of passengers from independent planners to convenience-driven customers.
Putnam also emphasised the importance of risk tolerance when being the first to market, sharing the examples of Alaska’s ancillary and flight subscriptions.
Speaking on the airline’s future strategic priorities when it comes to unleashing new revenue streams, Putnam added:
“We want to make sure that any innovation we do doesn’t cannibalise something we already have.”
Turning to female empowerment in the industry, Putnam shared several easy steps to support women, from combatting the tendency to “self-select out of applying for roles” to advocacy and beyond.
