American Airlines has listened to its passengers and is rolling out an updated mobile app at the end of May. The carrier has spoken to flyers for the last 12 months and is launching a redesigned app with innovative features to give passengers the user experience they want.
The refreshed app has been designed in line with the “look and feel” of apps people use in their everyday lives to create a clean, modern interface. It simplifies the journey for users whilst providing quick access to trip details and enhanced loyalty features.
On the revamped home screen, passengers will find a summary of their upcoming travel plans as well as instant access to their AAdvantage® program. Members now also have section dedicated to the loyalty scheme with additional information on their account status and accumulated miles.
Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer said:
“We’re dialled in to delivering on new ways to make our customers’ travels with us as easy as possible, so improving their most powerful tool – the app – is a significant focus of ours. Over the last year, our team has been taking feedback from customers to understand their pain points and wish lists to make sure we’re tailoring the next evolution of the app to deliver what they want most. This newly redesigned app is the first step in giving us a base that will allow us to continue to build and release new features so we can always deliver what customers value most.”
It will not be all change in the app though, with well loved features including the Live Activities integration, option to connect to an Apple Watch, inflight entertainment, and others staying put as the airline crafts the ultimate travel tool.
Although the updates are numerous, the airline has described this as “set[ting] the foundation for future app upgrades and features” as it innovates further to refine the user experience.
