Hawaiian Airlines has revealed a new US$600 million investment programme that will place technology and premiumisation at the heart of their business strategy.

The Kahuʻewai Hawai’i Investment Plan is one of the single largest investments the airline has ever initiated. Now owned by Alaska Airlines, the plan aligns with Alaska Air Group’s Alaska Accelerate strategy to become world-leaders in customer care, safety, and sustainability.

Technology is among the most significant areas of investment. Hawaiian’s mobile app and website will be overhauled to make travel planning simpler and more efficient. The new app will launch in the spring.

Tapping into the growing premium market is another target, as Hawaiian plans to launch premium economy for the first time. Its full fleet of A330s will undergo full interior refurbishments and debut with the new ticket class from 2028. Additional perks available to passengers will include free Starlink WiFi, Bluetooth IFE connectivity, and an updated entertainment library.

Beginning this year through to 2029, Hawaiian’s upgraded inflight experience will be matched by its airport presence. At its principal hub in Honolulu, the airline will build a new 10,600 square-foot premium lounge in Terminal 1. Honolulu, along with Līhu’e, Kahului, Kona and Hilo airports, will also benefit from renovated lobbies and gates for an enhanced traveller experience.

Ongoing partnerships with the Mana Up investment fund and the Travel Pono programme, as well as the newly integrated Alaska Airlines | Hawaiian Airlines Foundation, ensure Hawaiian gives back to local communities. Josh Green, Governor of Hawai’i, commented:

Hawaiian Airlines’ investment is exactly the kind of long-term commitment Hawaiʻi needs. Modern, welcoming airports improve the experience for residents and visitors alike, strengthen our economy and keep Hawaiʻi competitive as a global destination. We appreciate Hawaiian Airlines’ partnership in advancing workforce development, regenerative tourism, clean energy, and community programs that reflect the values of our islands
