Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines have formalised the latest advancement of their business partnership. A new commercial agreement has been signed, receiving regulatory approval from the aviation authorities of each country.
The two airlines already operate a codesharing agreement and share points on some routes for their loyalty programmes. However, with the new agreement signed, the commercial partnership could evolve further to encompass revenue sharing flights, joint fare products, co-ordinated flight schedules, and joint corporate travel arrangements.
Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Airlines, said:
I would like to thank the authorities in both Singapore and Malaysia, whose approvals pave the way for this deeper strategic partnership between Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines. Our win-win collaboration strengthens both carriers’ operations, while delivering enhanced value to customers across our combined networks. This also reinforces the long-standing and deep people-to-people and trade links between Singapore and Malaysia, supporting economic growth and connectivity that will benefit both nations.
Singapore Airlines is frequently rated among the best carriers in the world for its high-end customer service. Malaysia Aviation Group, meanwhile, have embarked on its Long-Term Business Plan 3.0, a five-year strategy that aims to position the airline among Skytrax’s Top 10 Global Airlines by 2030. While precise details of the new partnership are currently unknown, it will no doubt drive improved performance and increased connectivity for passengers.
Datuk Captain Izham bin Ismail, Group Managing Director, Malaysia Aviation Group, added:
This collaboration brings together complementary frequencies and aligned schedules, enabling deeper connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore. Over time, it reinforces Malaysia Airlines’ competitive position by enhancing scale, relevance, and network resilience across key markets.
