Henry Harteveldt, Travel Industry Analyst & President, Atmosphere Research Group will be joining Aviation Festival Asia once again to moderate several key sessions. In this brief interview, Harteveldt shared some insights into what to expect, the overarching themes shaping discussions, and which sessions he will be in the audience for.
Speaking about his upcoming panels, Harteveldt noted a diversity of opinion amongst panellists, especially regarding the use of AI. With AI dominating conversation in recent years, it will be interesting to hear how industry leaders are tackling technology differently and the various consequences of their approaches.
“There are some airlines that feel that AI is really not as useful to the organisation as others do, and there are some airlines who are all in with AI […] So I think it will be really interesting to see, not so much who is right and wrong, because all opinions are equally valid, but where is the struggle? What are the challenges that airlines face, whether they are choosing to implement AI, expand their use of AI, or whether they want to remain on the side lines for the time being?”
In addition to AI, Harteveldt also highlighted the evolution of organisations and culture as a key area of interest. Elaborating on how this will be reflected during his panels, he said:
“Frankly the blurring of roles and lines within the organisation is something that is really, really interesting. You don’t hear CIOs just speaking about tech, you hear them talking about the business. You don’t hear pricing people just talk about inventory management and so on, you hear them talking about working with colleagues in marketing and sales and ops and other functions. […] So I think that there’s going to be a lot of focus on the changing organisation and the changing roles that we have (despite what our business cards may say) and the importance of evolving your culture.”
At the event, Harteveldt will be speaking to Cathay Pacific Airways, Virgin Australia, Singapore Airlines Limited, AirAsia, Thai Airways International, SAUDIA airlines, Air India, Riyadh Air, and more. To attend these sessions in person – book your ticket now.
