TAP Air Portugal has introduced Bluetooth connectivity for inflight entertainment (IFE) systems on its long-haul flights.
Passengers in Economy class will still be able to request complimentary wired headphones, but the new Bluetooth feature means they can use their own electronic accessories if desired. This measure will provide customers with better sound quality and convenience, while also contributing to the airline’s sustainability initiatives by reducing plastic and e-waste.
Good connectivity a requirement for modern passengers
Bluetooth connectivity was already available to Business class long-haul passengers, but the feature is now being rolled out across Economy class. TAP Air’s long haul fleet currently consists of 19 Airbus A330neo and 13 Airbus A321neoLR aircraft, all of the latest generation.
Viasat’s 2024 Passenger Experience survey found that 94% of the 11,000 respondents prefer to use personal devices on flights. TAP Air’s investment caters to the rising customer demand for personalisation and connectivity at 30,000 feet.
