At Aviation Festival Americas, João Pita, CCO, GRU Airport joined to discuss how the airport leverages technology to serve the diverse needs of over 40m passengers annually and offers an overview of the South American aviation landscape.
Pita explained the crucial role that technology plays in the airport’s operations, where efficiency must be the priority. He also unpacked the evolving passenger expectations driven by digitalisation and the need to balance digital solutions with human interactions to cater to different demands.
“We try to accommodate different needs, but always taking one step back and understanding that the most important thing is to be efficient. Because we can have the best airport in the world, but if your flight is delayed because of the airport or if the bags don’t show up, then you are not enjoying your experience. So we need always to do our basics well first.”
The conversation also looked at the South American landscape, sharing key trends in the region, and exploring the challenges of keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology. Watch the full five-minute interview below now.
