At World Aviation Festival, Thomas Hoff Andersson, Managing Director (MD) & Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) shared his insights.
Hoff Andersson discussed lessons learnt from the airport’s biometrics test phase, explained more about the AI-technology that transformed baggage delivery times from 80 per cent within 30-minutes to 95 per cent, and highlighted what is next for the airport that was previously dubbed “the most innovative” in the world.
Sharing a valuable lesson from the airport’s history of innovation, Hoff Andersson warned:
“A cool technology doesn’t seem to be enough to change passenger behaviour. We kind of went back to the drawing board to say, what can we do instead? And we came to the conclusion there needs to be some really tangible benefits for the passengers in order for them to change their behaviour. So far, that’s working really, really nicely…”
