London Gatwick have released a series of Detailed Access Guides in partnership with AccessAble to enhance accessibility at the airport ahead of the busy September and October months. By collaborating with AccessAble, an industry leader in the provision of accessibility information, Gatwick is working to make the travel experience inclusive for all passengers. Emphasising the importance of these guides, Dr Gregory Burke, Founder and Executive Chair, AccessAble said:
“This crucial information will enhance the experience of the hundreds of thousands of passengers requiring assistance who travel through Gatwick each year. The AccessAble website offers the opportunity to create real change in the way that disabled people travel, and we hope this exciting programme with London Gatwick, one of the most important transport hubs in the UK, represents a significant moment on this journey.”
The initiative will offer a comprehensive picture of 30 areas across the airport highlighting significant features like flooring types, signage, light and noise levels, step-free access, walking distances, seating, accessible toilets, and more. Commenting on this, Anna-Ruth Cockerham, Accessibility Manager, London Gatwick said:
“We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. These guides will help London Gatwick achieve its vision to be the airport for everyone, whatever your journey.”
At World Aviation Festival in October, Anna-Ruth Cockerham will be speaking on making London Gatwick the Accessible Airport for everyone at the event’s Digital Accessibility Summit. Other speakers at the summit include Michael Swiatek, Chief Strategy Officer, Abra Group, Angela Lee, Senior Manager – Product Management, United App, United Airlines, Ruairí Kell, Head of Innovation, D.A.A, and many more.
