On Tuesday, King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC) announced strategic partnership contracts with four internationally recognised companies, marking the beginning of a new phase in the airport’s development. Together with the existing team, these partners will support KSIADC in its ambitious plans for the new Riyadh based airport, working together to establish a “new” passenger experience.

The four companies – Foster + Partners, Jacobs, Mace, and Nera – are combining their expertise to create a state of the art experience for passengers in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. 

Speaking on the announcement, Mr Marco Mejia, Acting CEO, KSIADC said:

“We are committed to delivering an airport which will be seen as the benchmark in the world of aviation. It will provide the national and international connectivity the city of Riyadh needs to meet and drive the business trade and tourism growth set out in Vision 2030. These four firms will work alongside the Saudi and international talent we have brought together, they will be an essential addition to our team as we build King Salman International Airport, creating a new passenger experience.” 

  • Foster + Partners – The award-winning architecture firm, Foster + Partners will design the airport’s master plan spanning 57 square kilometres including multiple terminals, six runways, and a multi-asset real estate area. The firm has been tasked with crafting a “unique travel experience” for passengers, reflective of both “Riyadh’s essence and Saudi culture.”
  • Jacobs – As a leading international engineer firm, Jacobs will support these designs offering specialist consultancy services on the master plan and runway.
  • Mace – Known for its leading position in consulting and construction company, Mace will ensure global best practices, innovations, and advanced methodologies across every stage of planning and construction.
  • Nera Specialists in technical and operational solutions for aviation, Nera will ensure air traffic efficiency, overseeing the design of airspace and leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance operations.

With plans to make King Salman International Airport a new benchmark in the industry, these recently announced strategic partnerships offer some further insight into what to expect.
