Air France has long been dedicated to strengthening aviation’s connection with rail, offering the ‘Train+Air’ combined travel service for over three decades. Since 2022, the number of routes available through this service has expanded by 50%.
To celebrate 30 years of partnership, Air France and SNCF Voyageurs, the SNCF Group company dedicated to passenger rail transport, are allowing Flying Blue members to convert their Miles into travel vouchers across the TGV INOUI network.
Miles can be exchanged via the Flying Blue Store at a value of 25 to 100 euros. With over 600,000 bookings through the Train+Air service, Air France expects this option to be popular amongst members. Miles can also be used to purchase air tickets (award tickets), to contribute to the development of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and to make donations to charities.
With many customers taking their carbon footprint into account when travelling, the service has been simplified and customers can journey via 22 train stations that are linked directly to the Paris airports. This can be booked through the airline’s digital service which brings train journeys and flights under single booking and, ensures space on the next flight or train in the event of any ‘irregularity.’
Intermodal travel was one of the dominant transport trends last year with 75 per cent of those surveyed planning to make at least one intermodal booking in 2024. In addition to Air France and SNCF Voyageurs, there are a number of notable partnerships strengthening the connection between rail and air including United Airlines & Deutsche Bahn, Lufthansa Group & Deutsche Bahn & ICE express trains, and Group airline SWISS and the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).
