Keynote Interview with David Neeleman, Founder & CEO of Breeze Airways: Understanding more about the future of international expansion at Breeze and finding out what David thinks of the current state of play of the industry?

Breeze Airways was launched in 2021 and markets itself as “the United States’ only Nice Low Cost Carrier.” The airline’s CEO, David Neeleman is an industry legend having created and launched multiple airlines including Breeze Airways, JetBlue, Morris Air, WestJet, and Azul.

In this 15-minute session with BBC Presenter Ben Thompson, Neeleman mapped out the current “bloodbath” in the US airline industry, key differences between US and European markets, restructuring in the ULCC business model, and his vocal opposition to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Speaking on the industry’s current approach to sustainability, Neeleman said:

“I just think SAF is a very inefficient way to deal with the problem […] I think it’s a complete waste of money, and I think there are ways to handle climate change and to help [other industries] where it actually makes economic sense. In an airplane, it makes no economic sense whatsoever.”

Watch the full session below to find out Neeleman’s proposed alternative.
