Emirates have announced that they are upgrading all their aircraft for Starlink connectivity, creating the world’s largest Starlink-enabled airline.
Beginning with its Boeing 777s, the upgrades will be completed by mid-2027. In total, 232 aircraft will be retrofitted to give passengers high-speed WiFi access even at 10,000 feet. Starlink connectivity will be available for free to all passengers regardless of ticket class.
Three antennae will be added to the airline’s fleet of A380s in 2026, an industry first to ensure optimal connectivity across the cabin. Targeting 14 retrofits per month, Emirates will also upgrade seatback screens for live streaming of TV and sports.
Sir Tim Clark, President Emirates Airlines, said:
Emirates’ philosophy is simple but powerful: we strive to deliver consistency. While others peddle a confusing mix of products across a varied fleet, we want all our customers to be able to enjoy Emirates’ best products and not only on certain routes or aircraft types. That’s why we’re investing so heavily in our retrofit programme.
The most advanced connectivity, exceptional cabins, extensive entertainment, and world-class service from our talented Cabin Crew – all of these elements reflect our substantial investment and commitment to raising the bar on what air travel should be.
Emirates consistently ranks among the world’s best airlines. Starlink connectivity is yet another perk offered to customers alongside cutting-edge biometric technology at Dubai International, and unique premium features such as its First Class Shower Spa.
The Dubai-based carrier joins Virgin Atlantic and the International Airlines Group (IAG), who both announced connectivity partnerships with Starlink earlier this month.
