Yesterday, Qatar Airways launched its first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 aircraft with a flight from Doha to London. The world-class airline is planning to introduce Starlink across 12 Boeing 777-300s by the end of 2024.

Consistently pushing to elevate the onboard experience for its passengers, the ultra-high-speed, low-latency internet will be available to all passengers for gate to gate at no additional charge.

With this, passengers will be able to stream their preferred entertainment, watch live sports, or work, “bridging the gap between the skies and the ground.”

Qatar Airways’ Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said:

“This milestone, paired with our commitment to rapidly roll-out Starlink across our entire modern fleet, demonstrates our relentless pursuit of offering passengers an in-flight experience that transcends the constraints of traditional air travel. By providing Starlink reliable, seamless internet on board, we are connecting people to the things they love the most even at 35,000 feet, making every journey with us a memorable one.”

Celebrating the launch, Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr Al Meer and Qatar Tourism Chairman Saad bin Ali Al Kharji made a video call with SpaceX CEO, Elon Musk from 35,000 feet. Watch the video below.

Looking forward, the airline is extending this to its Airbus A350 fleet in the summer of 2025 and plans to bring this connectivity to the entire Boeing 777 fleet by the end of 2025.

At Aviation Festival Asia in February, an expert panel will be exploring how more innovation can be inserted into IFEC strategy to uplift the passenger journey. Book your ticket now to learn more!
