Eurowings, the Lufthansa Group low-cost subsidiary, has announced it will install Premium BIZ class on eight A320neo aircraft.
The move follows a successful trial on some of the carrier’s longer routes, including Berlin-Dubai. Replacing the first two rows of 2×3 economy with a roomier 2×2 configuration, Premium BIZ will offer customers a more spacious experience in a higher-end seat. Additional benefits include adjustable footrests, an inflight amenity kit, and a complimentary hot meal served on porcelain.
Eurowings CEO Max Kownatzki said:
The success of our market tests made it clear within just a few months that many passengers on longer flights want a bit more space and affordable comfort. With the introduction of the Premium BIZ seat, we are emphasizing our role as Europe’s value airline, offering good service at fair prices across all fare categories.
Premium BIZ is expected to serve Eurowings’ most popular business and leisure destinations, such as Mallora, London, and the Canary Islands. The move positions the carrier as one offering comfort for all price points, not just a no-frills airline prioritising seat density.
Eurowings joins other low-cost carriers (LCC) in Europe developing premium seating. This includes Wizz Air, who earlier this year confirmed they were expanding their Wizz Class seating product to more routes following a successful trial.
