Gwenaele Monboisset, SVP Commercial Central & Eastern Europe Airlines and Ernest Roda, SVP Commercial Western Europe Airlines are commercial leaders at Amadeus overseeing airline relationships across Europe. Together, they offer perceptive insights into diverse market dynamics and a keen awareness of the ever-evolving distribution landscape.

At World Aviation Festival, Monboisset and Roda discussed the industry’s NDC journey highlighting the key accelerators and drivers of adoption as well as the prominent challenges with implementation. They also shared predictions for the near future of airline retailing, with Roda outlining five key trends to watch out for over the next five years. Speaking on the growing importance of personalisation, he explained

“According to McKinsey, 71 per cent of travellers expect personalisation already today, and 78 per cent are more likely to repurchase from businesses that personalise […]. Linked to this trend, we also see that airline travellers will have a wider range of products and services to choose from, presented through rich and dynamic offers like we’ve never seen before.”

Questions asked include:

  1. This year, we have seen notable progress on the industry’s NDC journey – can you pick out a particular milestone?
  2. What are the major challenges we are seeing when it comes to distribution, and how can airlines be proactive in troubleshooting these?
  3. What do you think the next big trends will be for airline retailing over the next five years?
