“When industry expertise meets technological innovation.”
Last year, the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SITA, in which several AACO’s member airlines would “test and undergo a proof of concept” for SITA’s “Eco Mission” solution.
The non-profit organisation, AACO was established in 1965 and is dedicated to supporting its airlines thrive within the evolving industry landscape. One of the association’s key objectives is helping members to develop their environmental policies.
This week, SITA and the AACO announced plans to strengthen their existing partnership with a continued focus on the data-driven sustainability solution. Eco Mission supports airlines in their sustainability journey by helping them to align with changing regulations, implement effective data collection and analysis, and improve cost efficiency.
The company described the solution as enabling airlines to “gather accurate, real-time data on emissions and fuel consumption; reduce operational costs related to CORSIA, EU ETS, ReFuelEU and other sustainability levers; and compliance with complex environmental regulations.”
David Lavorel, CEO of SITA, commented on the potential unlocked by this partnership, underscoring the importance of collaboration in the midst of significant industry challenges:
“Our ongoing collaboration with AACO is a testament to what can be achieved when industry expertise meets technological innovation. As we face unprecedented environmental challenges, achieving sustainability in aviation demands more than compliance—it calls for a visionary approach. Together with AACO, we are advancing a solution that tackles these challenges directly, paving the way for a fresh, practical approach to environmental responsibility that moves the industry closer to its goals.”
With increasing pressure on airlines to ramp up sustainability initiatives, collaboration across the ecosystem will be imperative.
