Tara Mulrooney, CTO and VP of Innovation, Edmonton International Airport (YEG) and Diane Sabatino, Acting Executive Assistant Commissioner, Office of Field Operations, US Customs and Border Protection, joined to discuss the journey to secure and seamless air travel. 

The pair unpacked the collaborative responsibilities of airports, airlines, and governments in enhancing the security and seamlessness of travel. YEG’s VP of Innovation explained the delicate balance between privacy and efficiency that occurs as new travel technologies are implemented. As such, the importance of transparency and trust-building is elevated, as passengers grapple with decisions on how their personal data is used.

During the 15-minute discussion, Tara and Diane explored pilot programmes in Canada, the need to build a shared reference architecture across the aviation ecosystem, benefits of a modularised approach, collaboration and communication and much more.
