Jef de Vries, Marketing Manager, SkyNRG joined for an interview exploring the role of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the transition to net zero. SkyNRG acts as a trusted partner across the industry to both encourage demand and increase the supply of SAF, collaboratively shaping a more sustainable future for all.
The conversation firstly mapped out the current state of SAF adoption where Jef explored factors which have driven a shift in the landscape. Here, SkyNRG’s Marketing Manager discussed the transition from an era where only progressive airlines and larger companies engaged in discussions about SAF, to projections for 2050 where SAF accounts for over 50-70 per cent of total jet fuel consumption.
Looking to the future, the conversation also covered the multi-solution approach that will be necessary in decarbonising the industry. Jef explained the differently weighted roles that SAF, carbon offsets, carbon capture, new technology, and reducing flying will play as we move forward.
