SITA and Indicio accelerate DTC development
Today, Indicio, the market leader in open-source verifiable data tech and trusted digital ecosystems, and SITA announced a co-innovation agreement to advance the development and deployment of digital identities for travel.
Working towards “seamless, secure, and privacy-preserving processes in the airport,” both companies are collaborating in the field of decentralised identity technology. Digital identities or Digital Travel Credentials (DTC) are designed to upkeep necessary, high levels of security whilst minimising the volume of passenger data that is shared with different entities.
Jeremy Springall, SVP of SITA AT BORDERS, said:
“The adoption of digital identities will be the biggest technology breakthrough in the travel industry in decades. It will simplify the identification process at every step of the journey and open up opportunities for the air transport industry to fully embrace the benefits of seamless travel and the digital economy. SITA, together with Indicio, are proud to be leading the charge.”
As the DTC is stored in the passenger’s mobile wallet, travellers can control their personal data whilst benefiting from the frictionless experience enabled by the technology. By sharing relevant data and documents before the point of travel, the DTC technology can reduce queues, enhance safety, and maximise convenience.
