SITA have integrated Google’s Find Hub with its WorldTracer baggage system, allowing passengers to share luggage location information with airlines through their personal devices.

Bag finding is usually conducted through airport bag scans and airline data exchanges. The new integration means bags equipped with a Find Hub tag can be located more precisely and returned to customers more quickly.

Nicole Hogg, Portfolio Director, Baggage at SITA, said:

Airlines are operating in an environment where passengers expect visibility of their baggage at every step of the journey. When a bag is delayed, uncertainty increases compensation costs, customer service pressure and reputational risk. When passengers choose to share their bag’s location, airlines gain insight at the moment it matters most.

If their luggage is lost, passengers can simply generate a secure link within the Find Hub app and share with their airline to accelerate the tracking process. Several airlines have partnered with other Internet of Things (IoT)-powered tracking tags to provide passengers with greater reassurance regarding their bags. These include Delta and Apple AirTag, and Turkish Airlines and Samsung SmartThings Find.

SITA WorldTracer covers more than 500 airlines and ground handlers across over 2,800 airports, significantly expanding this Google partnership’s reach. According to the IT provider’s 2025 Baggage IT Insights report, rates of mishandled baggage have declined by 67% in the past two decades despite doubling passenger numbers, largely thanks to technology.
