AirAsia Announces Partnership with 12Go to Provide Complete Journey Experience


This week, AirAsia has announced their partnership with 12Go, expanding the airasia Super App further still.

Launched in October 2020, the rapidly growing super app has added yet another partnership to the collection in October 2022. This latest partnership advances a “transport” category of the app which is said to make it the world’s first super app to offer a complete journey experience.

12Go is a multimodal online travel agency based in Singapore. The partnership has benefited the airasia Super App with 12Go’s inventory of approximately 4,000 operators, covering nearly 50,000 routes across 26 Asian countries.

Alexey Abolmasoy, CEO of 12Go explained:

“Ground transport is the glue that makes international travel possible. Our mission is to improve the experience of travel by making the ground and sea elements of a trip simple to plan and book. We intend to partner with the tech and travel ecosystems to put ground transport options in front of travellers wherever they choose to shop, by making our simple-to-deploy API available at scale.”

The partnership enables the super app to provide a cohesive end-to-end journey for users. It further represents a tangible acknowledgment of the importance of ground transport either side of a flight to the overall flight experience.

airasia Super App CEO Amanda Woo highlighted the importance of the partnership for enhancing the app’s product:

“Being able to get to the airport or move between locations after your flight has landed can make or break a trip. That’s why we’re adding Asia’s most comprehensive bus, train, and ferry options from 12Go to our Super App, so travellers can organise every aspect of their trip in one place. When it comes to the journey itself, ground transport is the final piece of the jigsaw for our users.

To celebrate the launch of the “transport” section, airasia Super App is offering 20 times increase on points. The app’s points system is discussed in a previous article exploring the airasia “holidays” expansion of the app.
