Passengers can travel airBaltic with only one personal item thanks to the introduction of an ultra-basic Economy MINI ticket fare.
Available from 6 May, the fare sits below the Economy Basic offering. The retail option appeals to passengers looking to travel ultra-light, such as short-stay business travellers or tourists. All airBaltic’s previous ticket types included an overhead cabin bag as part of the price. Economy MINI gives passengers more flexibility to choose the add-ons that they need while keeping the Latvian carrier competitive on price.
Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic, commented:
With Economy MINI, airBaltic continues to develop its fare portfolio to reflect how customers travel today, introducing a straightforward entry-level fare that customers can flexibly tailor with additional services if needed. This new fare complements our existing fare structure and ensures every customer can choose the option that best fits their journey. Passengers travelling light benefit from a more accessible price point, while those who need more can add exactly what they require.
airBaltic now fly to over 80 destinations across Europe. The Riga-based carrier has become one of the first airlines in Europe to fly Starlink-equipped aircraft, bringing high-speed WiFi to passengers onboard free of charge. Challenges in the Eastern European market from low-cost carriers include Ryanair and Wizz have forced airBaltic to become more competitive in other aspects, including on price through the Economy MINI ticket tier.
