Frontier Airlines reported record revenue of US$1.4 billion in Q3 2026, with airfares leaping by 71% to mitigate high fuel costs.

The largest budget airline in the US, Frontier said their fuel costs were 82% higher than the same period a year before. However, despite passing these high prices onto customers, they transported 18% more passengers than Q3 2025 and extracted 30% more revenue per traveller.

In a statement on LinkedIn, President and CEO Jimmy Dempsey said:

Frontier is seeing strong demand and improving the customer experience, all while maintaining cost discipline. And, it’s paying off: we delivered $1.4 billion in revenue in Q3, a company record.

Even in the face of industry-wide challenges, #TeamFrontier is delivering, and I couldn’t be prouder.

Although the company successfully raised revenue, it still made a loss across the quarter due to some charges on returned Airbus aircraft. Following the announcement, Frontier shares rose to close to 12%.

Since Spirit collapsed earlier this year, Frontier has become the US’s largest low-cost carrier (LCC). The country’s budget airline landscape has faced challenging few years due to turbulent economic conditions and evolving customer habits. This year’s high fuel prices provided to be the final nail in the coffin for Spirit, while in January Allegiant and Sun Country confirmed they were merging operations to maintain competitivity. Additionally, in July, Allegiant announced they were adding premium seating for the first time in a bid to attract higher paying customers.
