Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines have launched a new business partnership that fosters closer collaboration between the two carriers.

Signed in January 2026, the agreement sees the Southeast Asian carriers co-operate on joint fares and timetables on the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore corridor. This international route is the world’s third-busiest by passenger seats, according to OAG. The partnership is now being put into action between the two national carriers, help foster connectivity and growth between the capital cities.

Mr Bryan Foong, CEO of Airline Business from Malaysia Aviation Group, said:

This joint business partnership with Singapore Airlines marks a significant milestone in the expansion of our commercial collaboration. By introducing joint fare products, we are giving our customers greater choice, improved flexibility, and a more seamless travel experience. This collaboration also lays the foundation for deeper integration across our networks, ultimately benefiting both leisure and business travellers.

In the future, the agreement will expand to include reciprocal lounge access and joint corporate travel arrangements. Mr Lee Lik Hsin, CCO at Singapore Airlines, added:

The introduction of joint fare products with Malaysia Airlines expands the range of fare options available to customers travelling between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, offering more flexibility and convenience when planning their journeys. As we deepen our collaboration, we will continue to combine our strengths to enhance both airlines’ offerings and deliver greater value to customers, while strengthening the long-standing people-to-people connections and trade links between Singapore and Malaysia.

Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines already operate a codeshare agreement and are also both members of the oneworld Alliance. The implementation of this new agreement will see them become one of aviation’s most collaborative partner carriers.
