Marjan Rintel, CEO KLM – Keynote interview
Last month at the World Aviation Festival in Amsterdam, Guy Johnson interviewed the CEO of KLM, Marjan Rintel. KLM is the flag carrier of the Netherlands and has its hub at Schiphol airport.
The interview explores KLM’s approach to staying appealing as an employer while the industry weathers a staffing crisis. Marjan explains the ways KLM continues to remain in the top five companies for attracting employees. KLM’s CEO described the important of sustainability, diversity, inclusiveness, and new leadership in attracting younger generations to the industry, highlighting that airlines must “reinvent themselves” to give employees what they require.
Another key area explored within the interview is data. How data is used, what it can offer airlines and customers alike, and the ability it has to accelerate airlines. Discussing whether the industry is getting the most out of data, Marjan explained “there is a lot of potential. We are not there yet.”
