Airline alliance oneworld have signed a deal with Timeshifter, a popular app for managing jet lag.

Customers travelling on a oneworld Round The World ticket will now receive a complimentary subscription to Timeshifter for their entire itinerary. Jet lag results when a passenger’s internal circadian clock is out of alignment with the time zone at their destination. More than a third of customers say they find the symptoms difficult to manage, including exhaustion, headaches, and nausea.

oneworld CEO Ole Orvér said of the partnership:

This is just the latest example of the creative ways we are engaging with premium partners who bring true value and an elevated experience to oneworld customers.

Timeshifter fuses a wealth of circadian science data with health information provided by users. The app can then offer a personalised routine and specialist advice to help minimise the effects of jet lag for any destination.

Mickey Beyer-Clausen, CEO of Timeshifter, commented:

Timeshifter is trusted by astronauts, Formula One teams and professional athletes, and we are excited to be working with oneworld to provide this same circadian science to oneworld ‘s customers, improving their health and enjoyment when they cross time zones. Air travel has optimised nearly every part of flying except for what crossing multiple time zones can do to the traveller – a gap our partnership with oneworld will help to close.

oneworld’s Round The World tickets provide travellers with the opportunity to access more than 1,000 destinations across the alliance’s network. On average, ticketholders visit seven countries over three months, and a journey could span Alaska Airlines in North America to Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific. Timeshifter will help these customers manage their intercontinental journeys better while supporting more comfortable travel experiences.
